The plate glass mirror was mounted to the wall with a mastic adhesive. The funny thing is that there were only 3 contact points on the whole mirror. Another type of glue on the top bracket and a nailed-in bracket on the bottom were supporting most of the weight of the mirror. This stuff does NOT come off, so will have to replace the drywall.
