Autism Christmas Tree
The USD Center for Disabilities Autism Program has been asked to decorate one of the trees that are displayed annually in the state capitol building. All families on the e-mail list were asked to provide an ornament for the tree that reflects "The Sparkle of Autism."
This is my effort. They are little pouches, which represents how sometimes the neatest surprises can come from within individuals with autism. The crazy quilt print represents how we have pulled together a beautiful family from unique and diverse pieces. I made two, since we have two individuals diagnosed as on the spectrum.
I hope this raises awareness of autism in South Dakota. I think we are not catching a lot of kids that could be helped at a much younger age.
